Mi Tierra Restaurant & Taqueria in Des Moines, Iowa
Mi Tierra may have been the first place in Des Moines to really specialize in the Mexican Anotjitos. Its at least the first place I found in Des Moines to have its own dedicated antojitos menu. Their entree menu was interesting as well.

Closed Since: I last visited in January of 2014. The building later held a Jamaican restaurant among others before it was razed in early 2017

When you see a paleteria with the name La Michoacana and the classic pink and white color scheme you are visiting a part of a gigantic network of informal franchises serving paletas from the Mexican state of Michoacana. This is one of the biggest food operations in the world, and these places are spreading and growing everywhere. Its a paleta world and we are just living in it.
Specialty: mexican popsicles known as paletas, they have a huge menu of mexican snacks like doritos locos or french fries with crazy topping like pickled onions and candy.
